The traditional notion of retirement is, for many, not an option. Many need to continue working until they are physically or mentally unable to; meaning that the vast majority of their life was spent working instead of living - often in terrible jobs.

Retirement wouldnt mean alot because already wont work hard.

I would assume it would cause persons to work for much longer than needed, possibly into old age.
