If Donald Trump storms through Iowa and easily seizes the G.O.P. nomination, as presumed, and then goes on to win back the presidency, his victory will trigger a wild political and legal melee. The primary motivating purpose of his campaign is vengeance. He’s told his base that he is their retribution and has promised to “totally obliterate” the deep state. If he faces protests, he may immediately invoke the Insurrection Act and deploy troops, under his command, to American cities.
Eight years of bitter experience have taught us that supporting Trump degrades the character of his core supporters. There are still millions of reluctant Trump voters, people who’ve retained their kindness, integrity and good sense even as they cast a ballot for the past and almost certainly future G.O.P. nominee. I have friends and family members who vote for Trump, and I love them dearly. But the most enduring legacy of a second Trump term could well be the conviction on the part of millions of Americans that Trumpism isn’t just a temporary political expediency, but the model for Republican political success and — still worse — the way that God wants Christian believers to practice politics.

I have seen a huge change in the attitude of the Old Order Amish in this area. In my nearly 40 years of working in this community, most have gone from being disinterested in politics and politicians. It wasn't a part of their world. Humility was one of their core beliefs and those seen as not being humble were called out.
When Trump arrived on the scene, Amish men who work in the factories in the heart of Trump country seemed to be radicalized by their co-workers and have brought his attitude back into their communities and humility has been replaced with arrogance and pride.

The best option for Americans is a record setting turnout on election day.
2020 had a 50 per cent turnout. When half of the electorate doesn’t care enough to vote we deserve what we get. And that could be the end of America as we know it.

Yes, voting has to be encouraged and it must require heavy education on the candidates, unbiased, thorough, and effective education.
@RebelScum76Constitution4mos4MO
Require heavy education that is unbiased? Like that's even possible! What the government writes must necessarily be biased in favour of the government. Therefore small government candidates will be unfairly represented and we'll be shoved even closer to the brink of Orwellian police statism.
@9CJ6CB64mos4MO
The candidates write their own educational articles, they fill out data on themselves, along with the opinions of their opponents and the candidates personal ideas. I’m not asking government to write it, I’m asking government to provide a both-sides version and publicize it.
@9CJ6CB64mos4MO
Trump is a disease to this nation, I could talk for ages about the threat he poses.
@RebelScum76Constitution4mos4MO
Unfortunately no one wants to listen to you do that, because we've heard it for eight years from CNN...
@9CJ6CB64mos4MO
I don’t even watch CNN, so how about I summarize in short?
When this nation's founders gathered, they knew what they had created was an "experiment" in democracy. They believed men of good character could come together and compromise for the good of the nation. Compromise then was seen as a virtue. Today it is viewed as a weakness by many Republicans (and many far-left wing Democrats too).
Donald Trump has taken that belief one step further. He sees "real" Americans. And those that are not "real" must be investigated and targets for revenge. And, sadly, not what the Founding Fathers had in mind.
The majority of vot… Read more

Apparently you know absolutely nothing about the founding fathers because they
(1) Did not create what you call a "nation" but a Confederation of fully independent and autonomous states, with a Federal government limited to 18 carefully listed powers contained in the Constitution, and checked by state nullification and secession whenever it exercised a power not listed in the Constitution, any action the federal government takes not SPECIFICALLY ALLOWED FOR in the Constitution is "null and void."
(2) They detested and abhorred democracy, James Madison calling democracies &qu… Read more

This is a joke. Anyone voting for Trump at this point has, at least to some extent, lost these qualities.
