I would say that if teachers are willing they should have the right to be aided by the school system in providing defense for their students. Especially in schools that are high-risk, this could save students lives, and dissuade potential shooters from armed attacks.

Not everyone can be trusted with a gun. Enforcing a policy where teacher need to have a gun with them while teaching means they need psychological tests, or some sort of way to know that they can be trusted with carrying a firearm around dozens of children for 6 hours a day, making the process for hiring teacher even more difficult while more teachers are badly needed.

Guns carried by teachers could easily fall into the hands of one of the students, providing them a weapon to kill others.

There are many issues with the argument for arming teachers in schools. Firstly, ignoring the practicality of teachers potentially preventing shootings, it would be too expensive to provide teachers with the firearms, ammo, and training necessary to be useful in active shooter situations, especially with an already and continually dwindling budget.
Secondly, how would the firearm be stored? If it is on the body, smaller teachers could be overpowered, but if it is in a safe or desk locked with a key, will the teacher be able to react fast enough to unlock, load, and be ready to engage in a fast… Read more

I think that only some teachers should have access not all but they should all be trained with how to use them.
