Unarmed teachers are put in the impossible position of having to place themselves between the threat and their students. Without the ability to defend themselves, you are creating soft targets and more victims. Security guards cannot be everywhere at once. Arm teachers to be able to protect themselves and students until help arrives.

The security guard does not have to be everywhere at once. Are cops at my door when I dial 911? No. It would only take minutes at most for security guards to respond at a school if they are inside.

Think about what you just said. Police are the people who show up to take the report after a crime has already been committed. A security guard does not have a minute to respond to shots actively being fired into a crowded classroom or hallway. Don’t be naive.
