Should the government stop construction of the Dakota Access pipeline?
No, but drastically increase the amount of fines the company must pay in the event of an accident
Cutting corners on quality and safety cannot be tolerated, and a fine is just the beginning. It's time the people on top, the decision makers are held accountable and I don't mean just having to pay a hefty fine. A drastic fine is not incentive enough. Jail time, this will be the penalty for allowing destruction of such an epic scale. Some of you may be thinking, well, accidents do happen. Its the responsibility of those who are in-charge to make sure they don't. A fine to a multi billionaire is just the cost of doing business. The idea of sitting in a concrete box, can and will provide by fare more oversight and due diligence. Could be an incentive to increase the salaries and wages of the thousands of men and women who are employed and working on the pipeline.
