Yes , I agree with this comment about armed teachers. We would be more safe and protected if teachers can protect us .

 @9G7R6FM from South Carolina agreed…7mos7MO

Having armed teachers who are trained in case of an active shooter can save more lives and defend all until the proper authorities arrive

 @9G7R6V7 from New York disagreed…7mos7MO

they should be able to shoot if needed, as long as there is certification their trained, and their gun is put away safely.

 @9G7R5L5 from Wisconsin disagreed…7mos7MO

No teachers should own a fire arm period. A teacher is able to do the same as a shooter and kill if wanted. For teachers to have a gun kids can access it easier and take it. This just creates more of a risk rather than saftey.

 @9G7R3NQ from Arkansas disagreed…7mos7MO

Being a teacher is a very stressful job. Dealing with kids that test them every day and to trust a teacher to not also go off the deep end and commit the school shootings themselves. There are plenty of safety precautions that can be taken such as metal detectors.

 @9G9Z3FFPeace and Freedom from Connecticut disagreed…7mos7MO

How can you ensure that the students are safe from teachers? After discussing this question with peers, we've come to the conclusion that there are teachers that we don't feel safe or comfortable around being armed. Its seems redundant to give teachers guns when you could just make the process of buying firearms much more restrictive.

 @9G8FZXW from Washington disagreed…7mos7MO

It could be harmful depending on who is using it, since most teachers probably don't know how to use a firearm, as well as kids could find it and possibly hurt themselves or each other

 @9G8FZDH from Washington agreed…7mos7MO

I agree. They would have the minimum of a handgun (pistol) to keep their students and themselves safe. They should be able to take classes on firearm safety.

 @9G8FM4C  from Washington disagreed…7mos7MO

If there was tighter gun laws and how to get them then there wouldnt be a need to have defensive procedures to gun violence in schools.

 @9G8DTDK from Utah disagreed…7mos7MO

It gives people in the school easier access to firearms, and more things can happen whether it is an accident or not.

 @9G7YJQLIndependent from Georgia disagreed…7mos7MO

What if a teacher has a student that they very much dislike or what if a student dislikes the teacher and takes the gun. There isn't enough protection for this to be made true, so many things could go wrong and could increase the deaths and probability of school shootings.

 @9G7Y5HC from Kansas disagreed…7mos7MO

Though this a valid reason, it would become more of a risk for the teacher than any others. especially in higher levels of education, guns could come within the reach of students which would turn the purpose of the situation completely. unless the gun was locked up, and I don't mean just in a cabinet or in a drawer, then it shouldn't be normalized for teachers to have guns.

 @9G7WXXQ from Massachusetts disagreed…7mos7MO

I should be able to carry firearms in my class in order to stop violence and better protect my students.

 @9G7VC29 from Pennsylvania disagreed…7mos7MO

that would make it seem as school is something kids should fear and that the teachers main objective is to protect and not teach the children their current studies. it puts the teacher in a position that makes them feel like they aren’t a teacher and that they are more like officers in a classroom.

 @9G7V5NQ from North Carolina disagreed…7mos7MO

a teacher bringing a gun to school is kind of scary because you don't know that teachers background or if their crazy so why would a teacher bring a gun to school they can always defend their students a different way then bringing a weapon one day the teacher can be like oh i want to shoot this school up the kids would not be safe and won't feel safe in that environment and what's going on in this world already there shouldn't be one.

 @9G7S3J7Socialist from California disagreed…7mos7MO

In order to prevent teachers being in situations where they must shoot to defend their students, we must pass sensible gun laws that every other first world country has in order to protect our citizens. We must focus on combatting our massive gun issue in this country by banning assault rifles and making it harder for anyone to get a gun. And in school shootings cops must enter the building immediately to stop the threat instead of waiting around outside for hours.

 @9G7RKF9 from California disagreed…7mos7MO

It should not be a teachers responsibility to carry a firearm in a classroom setting. Teachers do not study and train in order to protect their students, they do so to teach. Asking teachers to carry firearms at their job shows an extreme mishandling of the issue of school shootings in the United States.

 @9GC2WC8 from Oregon disagreed…7mos7MO

they should not be able to carry a firearm and do not need to carry one at school around children because teachers and students have most likely stopped a shooter without a firearm and it just adds to the ddanger for evrybody

 @9GBFJT6Alliance from California disagreed…7mos7MO

They can hurt their students and threaten them. It is not good and I do not see it as a good defence

 @9G8FF2SWomen’s Equality from Texas disagreed…7mos7MO

teacher shouldn't have guns because who is to say that the teachers won't use it on students. Also, if guns are banned then teachers won't need to have a gun to protect the students. and students won't die.

 @9G8229J from Maryland disagreed…7mos7MO

While this may be important, if thr gun gets into the wrong hands things could go wrong, and a student could possibly get a hold of it if it’s not locked up safely

 @9G8JKCT from California disagreed…7mos7MO

It’s dangerous for teacher to carry a gun. They themselves could turn into a school shoot. A much better idea is to hire security.

 @9G9VFLP from North Carolina disagreed…7mos7MO

School shootings should be solved before a teacher is handed a gun. Who knows what the teacher will do with the gun. No guns should be allowed in the U.S.

 @9G9CJH3Republican from Arizona disagreed…7mos7MO

Teachers should have gun because what if there 2 people that dont like each other and they get that gun

 @9G8Y799 from New Jersey disagreed…7mos7MO

They aren't properly trained in using firearms. Statistics have proven that homes with guns are far more dangerous and have caused more grievances than those without. Classrooms would increase that risk. If a child gets a hold of it, things can get severely dangerous.
