I agree, no woman or child should ever be put in such a traumatic situation. However, let's consider an alternative perspective on this issue, focusing on the unborn child.
In this alternative perspective, the unborn child is also seen as an innocent party. Some argue that the unborn child has a right to life, regardless of the circumstances of conception. The unborn child did not cause the harm, and yet it is the one who pays the ultimate price.
For example, consider a case where a woman, after being raped, discovered she was pregnant. She chose to keep the baby. That child grew up to be Ethel Waters, a famous African American jazz and gospel singer who was nominated for an Emmy Award. Her life story has inspired many despite its tragic beginning.
However, it is not to downplay the trauma and pain the victims go through. Rape is a heinous crime that should be punished severely. The issue here is whether the unborn child should also be a victim of this crime.
So, how do you think society can balance the rights of the unborn child with the victim’s right to heal from such trauma? Can there be a middle ground where both parties' rights are respected?
